Urip Iku Urup

A Javanese philosophy; one of many Javanese philosophies that guide us to be better people. This term is such guiding and interpreting life so that it will not stop us from continuing to benefit the people around us. The greater the benefits we provide, the better it will be for us and others. But on the other hand, when we are not willing and indifferent to spread benefits to others, we should not apply ugliness and disturb others.

Take one by one step at a time on the journey to twenty. Day after day, there is no time to complain and give up. I don’t know what to worry about, but I’m getting lost on what to do. Even when I try to speak up, it sometimes makes me weak and insecure about what other people achieve. Especially if people try to calm down and say that “everyone has their path and destiny”. Okay, I believe those words. But in fact, being born as the first child does not make good fortune come as easy as those words.

Being the first child seems to have become a common thing when you have to give in a lot, are required to be an example, and seem to be the ‘sandwich generation’ because of the many expectations that are carried even though fate does not need it to be like that. Different environments can have different cultures; different positions can give different results. But the restlessness I feel now is confusion looking for directions. What do you want? Why does it feel like yesterday was wasting time trying to satisfy other people’s expectations?

I had become a person who had nothing to do with expectations. Also, I have become a rigorous person to the schedule and ideals, which sometimes makes me feel disappointed with myself. I realized that maybe it wasn’t my hard work that was wrong, nor was my passion or determination wrong. But it’s the mindset of success itself that I still need to fix until I meet a man who could awaken and open my eyes to a world much more comprehensive than the contents of my insecure mind.

He is the one who can guide me.

We talked a lot, we joked, and we did a lot of projects together until he finally understood a lot about each other and what I was looking for. Although sometimes we like to argue when discussing something, only he can always melt a stubborn person like me. He is the only one who can calm me in any situation. Even when I was disappointed, he was willing to give me a lean and hold his hand to accompany my ups and downs.

He said life is enough to be lived as it should be. There’s no need to worry about everything that happens; it’s still uncertain. And today, he is the one who always realizes that every day is a time for us to process to be better. Life doesn’t always have to be a winner; we have to make today better than yesterday. Look for ways and opportunities where we can ignite ourselves and give light to those around us. Because doing good doesn’t have to wait for us to become “someone”, all big ones have also been small and grow in their time.
